South Australia's Active Transport Strategy

Our population is growing and we can’t build our way out of road congestion. To keep our communities moving and our streets liveable, we need to make walking,

cycling and other active travel options safer, easier and more attractive for everyday trips.

An additional 670,000 people are expected to be living in our state by 2051, investing in safe and connected active transport networks will help us to manage congestion, support healthy lifestyles and maintain liveability into the future.

Additionally, the South Australia Government has committed to at least 60% reduction in emissions by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050. Increasing use of active transport for everyday trips will help us to achieve those goals.

Let’s create our active transport future together!

We want to know what’s important to you when it comes to active transport in our state. By providing your feedback, you can help us shape an active transport future that works for you now and for generations to come. Your feedback will help us to develop key actions that will form the basis of our Active Transport Strategy.
